How to prevent any window from hiding behind other windows on your computer

Updated: Nov 16, 2022

Do you need to prevent a certain window from hiding behind other windows and force them to stay on top? If you're using a Windows 10/11 computer, follow the steps below.

Download & Install 'DeskPins' - a free, open source program for Windows 10/11 that allows you to pin any window on your computer and force it to stay on top of other windows. DeskPins is verified virus free.

Download directly from the developer here: https://efotinis.neocities.org/deskpins/

After you download and install DeskPins, open the window that you want to keep on top and prevent from hiding. Next, locate the DeskPins icon in the system tray. (click the up arrow (^) to the left of the time and date in the bottom right corner of your screen). Left-click on the icon and your mouse pointer will change into a thumbtack pin icon.

Now, simply click the window that you would like to pin/keep on top, and a red pin icon will be displayed in the top right corner of the window. The icon means that the window is pinned and will now stay on top of other windows. The screenshot below shows Microsoft Word "pinned" by the DeskPins application.

To unpin a window and to stop preventing it from hiding behind other windows, simply click the red icon in the top right corner of the pinned window and the window will no longer be pinned.

That's all folks, thanks for reading!
